Activity details

Meet up at either the Pointe à Pitre or Saint-François ferry terminal.

After about 45-50 minutes of sailing, you will reach Grand-Bourg (from Pointe à Pitre) or Saint-Louis (from Saint-François). Guy (or one of his colleagues), will take charge for a guided tour of his native island. This tour starts with a free stroll in Saint-Louis or Grand-Bourg and the discovery of the local market. You will take the bus or minibus to visit a renowned rum distillery (with tasting) neighboring a pottery.

Guy and charming mood will then take you to discover the island’s artisan work through the visit of a syrup factory or kassaverie (depending on their open days). Your guide will take you to the famous Murat and its botanical garden with renowned medicinal plants, all the while telling you stories and anecdotes about his beloved island. Your guide will passionately explain all of the virtues and possible uses of these plants, which have come from Africa, in detail. You will fall in love with so much knowledge and enthusiasm.

You will continue your journey up to the Gueule-Grand-Gouffre cliff. Magnificent! You will finally get a break. You will arrive at the wonderful Anse Canot beach for the local aperitif consisting of planteurs and other home-made rums. You will then be able to have your meal on the beach. Your meal will contain accras, salad, and a dish of fish or chicken with a local side dish. You can have a refreshing ice cream for dessert. Water and wines will be at the table.

After satisfying your hunger with that nice, simple, and effective meal, you will finally be able to loll on the wonderful Anse Canot beach and go for a dip.
