The experience
A relaxing day out with a traditional Caribbean meal in the Grand-Cul-de-Sac-Marin Nature Reserve. Marie Laure and her team of enthusiastic guides will take you to Ilet Caret and the mangrove swamp for a day of discovery and good cheer. Snorkelling on the Great Barrier Reef and around the shipwreck.
Meet at 8.45 am at the Sainte-Rose fishing harbour near the water sports centre, heading for Ilet Caret where you’ll enjoy a little welcome drink with your feet in the water. Freedom, relaxation, swimming and/or lazing about in the morning. A Caribbean meal cooked on the spot on the barbecue.
- Starter: fish and raw vegetables
- Main course: smoked chicken and a gratin of local vegetables (breadfruit, christophines or similar).
- Dessert: flambéed bananas
- Drinks, juices, planteur, punch, water, red and rosé wine available
- Coffee or tea
Guided tour of Grand-Cul-de-Sac-Marin and the mangrove. Snorkelling on the shipwreck and the Great Barrier Reef (mask and snorkel provided). At around 3.30 pm, you’ll set off at a leisurely pace towards Sainte-Rose, passing by the Ilet aux Oiseaux, accompanied as always by your captain’s expert commentary. You’ll be able to admire the various species of birds—pelicans, herons and terns—that inhabit this exceptional vegetation. Your return to the harbour is scheduled for around 4.00 pm. This highly informative, comprehensive and thoroughly enjoyable day in more ways than one is sure to delight you.

On a fait l’excursion avec Steven c’était vraiment génial on a passé une très bonne après-midi, on a vu plein de beaux poissons. Les explications étaient claires il y avait plein de détails, on a appris plein de choses qu’on ne savait pas. Le petit goûter était très bien et tombé à pic, on a vu une raie et plein de poissons de toutes les couleurs. La navigation c’est très bien passée aussi. Je recommande à 100 % de faire l’excursion avec Steven et merci aussi à Marie Laure.

Sortie incroyable pour apprendre la faune et la flore du grand cul de sac marin ! Les connaissances et la sympathie de Mike rendent cette sortie encore plus magique. On a adoré les spots de snorkeling comme l'épave, la barrière de corail, les ilets caret, biche, aux oiseaux, ... Mais aussi la longue explications sur la création de la mangrove, l'utilité de la barrière de corail et les effets sur la faune. C'etait passionnant ! On reviendra !!! Hélène et Benoit
