The experience

Discover the Grand Cul-de-Sac Marin alongside Julia, your local guide. Dive into the heart of the mangrove forest, explore the coral reef and Ilet Caret. An experience that brings you up close to unspoilt nature whilst discovering a diverse range of wildlife, not to mention snorkelling in the waters of the largest lagoon in the Lesser Antilles. A total immersion in harmony with Guadeloupe’s ecosystem.

Set off from the Bas-du-Fort marina jetty at 7.15 am for an adventure exploring the Grand Cul-de-Sac Marin. The trip sets off at 7.30 am, taking you through the harbour of Pointe-à-Pitre to the mangrove forest of the Rivière Salée. The route will take you to Îlet Caret, a unique site that is gradually disappearing, followed by a break at 9.00 am in the natural pools of Chicago. You’ll explore a sunken shipwreck, discover the longest coral reef in the Lesser Antilles, and enjoy a packed lunch with your feet in the water at the Ilets la Biche, a spot combining mangroves, sandy islets and coral reefs.

Menu:

  • Aperitif: spreads, alcohol and soft drinks
  • Raw vegetables
  • Ceviche made with local fish
  • Rice or cassava semolina as a side dish
  • Fruit salad
  • “CHAULET” coffee and herbal tea ‘garden herbs’ available in thermos flasks

The free time scheduled for 2.30 pm will allow you to explore the seabed of this astonishing region, characterised by mangroves surrounded by waters teeming with small tropical fish. After this immersive experience, which will introduce you to the biodiversity and wonders of the Grand Cul-de-Sac Marin, you will return to the Bas du Fort Marina at around 4.00 pm
