The experience

Over the course of half a day, your captain – a marine biologist – will take you on a journey to discover the various species of cetaceans that can be found off the coast of Guadeloupe. Spend 3 to 4 hours searching for and observing spotted dolphins, humpback whales (in season), false killer whales and many more. With 10 years’ experience on cetacean excursions and a passion for the marine world, you’ll maximise your chances of returning with wonderful memories!

Your guide and skipper is a nature lover who enjoys sharing his passion. With him, you’ll not only have the best chance of spotting the many species of cetaceans found in Guadeloupe, but you’ll also learn more about the specific characteristics of each one. The trip departs from Bouillante at 7.45 am. After a short briefing on the rules for whale watching, we’ll weigh anchor at 8 am. And off we go for 3 to 4 hours of searching and sightings. With around ten years’ experience organising whale-watching trips, your guide will head to the spots where the chances of sightings are highest. The leeward coast of Guadeloupe is home to around fifteen species, some of which are so beautiful they’ll take your breath away. Among others, you’ll have the chance to spot spotted dolphins, pilot whales, or even more imposing creatures such as the sperm whale and the humpback whale (in season from January to May). Your marine biologist – who also serves as a scientific advisor for an organisation that collects, classifies and analyses data on cetaceans – will be on hand to provide you with all the information about the species you spot. This will allow you to appreciate the experience even more and to learn about the challenges involved in protecting these magnificent animals. Thanks to the small size of the boat, you’ll feel at one with the marine environment during your sightings, keeping a respectful distance from the animals so as not to disturb them – a real treat for the whole family. After a 3- or 4-hour trip, you’ll return to Bouillante between 11.00 and midday, with your head full of wonderful memories and a better understanding of these cetaceans that we so rarely get the chance to see.
