Half-day mangrove tour, Grand Cul-de-Sac Marin, coral reef, Pointe Sable – Private tour
The experience
Far from the mass tourism of the most popular islets in the Grand Cul-de-Sac Marin, Fabrice will take you on a half-day tour to discover the wonders of this vast lagoon. On the itinerary: Macou Islet with its charming little chapel, the Fajou Nature Reserve in all its splendour (snorkelling on the coral reef), a snack at Pointe Sable, Bird Islet, and a 6km walk through the mangroves. Easy access to the departure point, avoiding the morning traffic jams.
Your skipper and local guide knows the history of Guadeloupe like the back of his hand. As you visit several sites steeped in history, he skilfully weaves his narrative between key events in Guadeloupean culture and explanations of the local flora and fauna, for your greatest enjoyment. Always attentive, Fabrice will be delighted to answer your questions during this tour, which he can tailor to the preferences of each group.
Starting from the village of Morne-à-l’Eau, you’ll begin your excursion with a 6km boat trip through the Rotours Canal (named after the baron who began its construction in 1826), followed by a stop at the little-known Îlet Macou; this utterly charming islet features, amongst other things, a small chapel and a place of contemplation that Fabrice will show you. Fabrice, with his passion for his island, will give you a brief introduction to crab hunting. Snorkelling (fins, mask and snorkel provided) in crystal-clear waters near Fajou Islet.
A homemade snack on Pointe Sable, accessible only by boat; for your enjoyment, we’ll then stop off at Îlet aux Oiseaux to observe the bustling activity of the many species that nest there. A peaceful return to the departure point
