Mangrove or coral kayaking in the Grand Cul-de-Sac Marin – Half-day

Kayaking trip to the Grand Cul-de-Sac Marin with a team that has over 20 years’ experience in kayaking excursions in Guadeloupe. Two half-day tours are available, allowing you to discover the lagoon’s must-see sites. On the programme: a trip into the heart of the mangrove forest, paddling past the islets and snorkelling on the coral reef.

The trip sets off at 8.30 am from the Morne Rouge fishing harbour, near Sainte Rose. After a short briefing on the trip, we’ll hop into the kayaks and set off on an excursion that promises some lovely surprises. The half-day programme is perfect for those who want to discover the underwater wildlife of the Grand Cul-de-Sac Marin or the mangrove forest. Two routes are available depending on the day:

The first takes you on a paddle through the shallows to admire, from the surface, the various animal species that inhabit the seabed: starfish, sea urchins, sea cucumbers and seagrass beds. After a snack at La Biche islet, you’ll head to the coral reef for a snorkelling session. You’ll get a close-up view of the beauty of the seabed before returning to the fishing port of Morne Rouge around midday. For the second tour, you’ll sail into the heart of the mangrove forest. After setting off, your guide will lead you amongst the mangrove islets to learn more about this amazing ecosystem. Then, there’ll be a short detour to the seagrass beds to observe sea urchins and starfish. The second part of the itinerary will take you through the natural labyrinth formed by the mangrove forest that runs along the coast. And before returning to the harbour, you’ll be treated to a snack of ti punch and planteur juice.
