Super rando et super guide ! Merci Teddy !
The experience
Starting from Saint-Claude, a team of experienced guides who are experts in botany will help you discover all the secrets of La Soufrière. Please make your own way to the meeting point by 8.20 am, where you’ll be guided by your guide from Saint-Claude to the Bains Jaunes, followed by the ascent, returning at around 2 pm. You’ll receive professional and safe guidance from mountain experts who will provide you with sound, personalised advice.
The La Soufrière ascent excursion consists of a single looped route lasting 4 to 5 hours. Please meet at our offices at 7.30 am for a 8.00 am departure from the foot of the volcano. Throughout the ascent, the guide will provide commentary on the surroundings, explaining in great detail the unique features and role of La Soufrière in the ecological balance of the island of Guadeloupe, whilst placing it within the broader context of volcanology. Fascinating, relevant and informative, the guide’s explanations of volcanology will enrich the knowledge of visitors, whether they are complete novices or have some prior knowledge of the subject. Once at the summit of the volcano, visitors are invited to observe the fumaroles and the vertiginous fissures, as well as the exceptional panoramic view. It’s time to get your cameras out – provided the cloud that usually hangs over La Soufrière every day hasn’t lifted yet! The very distinctive smell of sulphur wafting from the volcano lends a unique atmosphere to this day-trip adventure that visitors won’t forget in a hurry! A dip in the Bains Jaunes is also on the programme: a spring-fed pool heated by the volcano to around 30°, at the foot of La Soufrière right at the end of the hike. Truly enriching moments of escapism and relaxation await you during these four unforgettable hours.
Typical itinerary for the day:
- 07:30Meet at the Bains Jaunes car park in Saint-Claude
- 08:00The climb begins on the cobbled path at the Pas du Roy (150m elevation gain)

Quelle superbe expérience ! Nous avons eu Teddy, un super guide passionné qui nous a fait découvrir le volcan et ses surprises avec pleins d'explications très intéressantes. Passage par des endroits incroyables. On recommande vraiment c'était juste génial!
