Merci Florent !
The experience
Set off to explore the Grand Cul-de-Sac Marin on an excursion that’s all about getting away from it all. Florent, your local guide, will take you to the region’s must-see sites whilst providing insights into the local flora and fauna. You’ll pass through the mangrove forest and enjoy a snorkelling stop above the coral reef.
Florent, your guide, will meet you at the car park at Sainte-Rose harbour for the start of the tour. After setting off, the first stop will be the Great Coral Reef at Grand Cul-de-Sac Marin, with a swimming stop at Îlet Caret. The perfect opportunity to admire surgeonfish, barracuda and various other species, particularly around the shipwreck lying just a few centimetres below the surface. Once you’ve had your fill, we’ll head to La Biche Islet. It’s one of the most beautiful islets in the Grand Cul-de-Sac Marin, and its tin shack – which serves as a shelter for fishermen – gives it the feel of a remote outpost of civilisation lost in the middle of the ocean. The next stop is to discover one of the unique features of the Grand Cul-de-Sac Marin Marine Reserve: the mangrove. You’ll learn more about this distinctive ecosystem thanks to your guide’s detailed explanations. After these various stops, it will be time to head back to Sainte-Rose. On your return journey, you’ll make a detour via Îlet Blanc to take a look at this relatively young (formed in 1989) and still fragile part of the Grand Cul-de-Sac Marin.
