Catamaran Charter Excursion – St-François/Marie Galante

Departure from the Saint-François marina at 7.30 am for a sail of around 2 hours, carried by the wind. Disembark at Anse Canot, near the town of Saint-Louis, a magnificent, well-sheltered beach lined with coconut palms and sea grape trees. Anse Canot is one of the safest beaches on the island, ideal for children to swim. This will be followed by a 2½-hour tour of the island aboard an air-conditioned coach. Accompanied by a local guide, you’ll discover the Habitation Murat, a former 18th-century coffee plantation converted into a sugar mill in the early 19th century under the leadership of Dominique Murat. With its 207 slaves, it was the largest sugar cane plantation in Guadeloupe. A tour of a rum distillery will follow the visit to the Habitation Murat, before heading to Anse Canot for a fish barbecue. You can then relax on the beach and enjoy the crystal-clear waters as the day draws to a close, with swimming and sunbathing taking turns. The return journey, scheduled for 4 pm, will allow you to enjoy a gentle sail with all sails set, against the backdrop of the warm colours of the sunset over the low-lying land. For rum lovers, a tasting of tropical fruit rums accompanied by local music will be served on the aft deck.
