Aerial view of Fort Napoléon, Les Saintes

Fort Napoléon is the result of the development of a small fort built in 1779. It was destroyed in 1809 and then rebuilt in 1816, with the work not being completed until 1840. The fortress served primarily as a prison until the 20th century, before becoming an art museum open to the public.

A very interesting walk up to the fort
