A Getaway to Marie-Galante – History and Tradition

At 7.30 am you will be welcomed by our captain at Gosier Marina: your day at sea will begin in a friendly and relaxing atmosphere, with a cup of coffee waiting for you on board the boat. We set sail at 8.00 am. On arrival, after a 45-minute sail, at the port of Saint-Louis on Marie-Galante, a local guide will be waiting to take you on a bus tour of the island, so you don’t have to worry about a thing. Step inside the Maison Murat, a vibrant testament to local history and heritage. Take in the captivating aromas of the Bielle distillery, where exceptional rums are crafted. Taste the authentic ‘sirop de batterie’, a sweet, artisanal speciality made from sugar cane. Discover Marie-Galante’s most renowned ‘kassaverie’, where cassava is transformed into delicious flatbreads at the heart of the island’s culinary tradition. Round off your tour in style with a view of nature’s vastness at the Gueule Grand Gouffre, a spectacular site sculpted by the ocean. After this tour of the island, rich in discoveries and sensory delights, your captain will be waiting for you with an aperitif featuring local drinks and a Creole meal served on board, overlooking one of Marie-Galante’s most beautiful beaches. On the menu: tuna rillettes, raw vegetables, marinated chicken and Creole rice, served with water, fruit juice, rosé and planteur, followed by a homemade coconut flan for dessert. You can then enjoy an idyllic swim in the turquoise waters and a relaxing moment on a white sandy beach. After this immersion in history, traditions and spectacular views, we’ll head back to Gosier Marina, with arrival scheduled for 4.30 pm. Children under 6 and pregnant women are not permitted to take part in this excursion; a minimum of 8 participants is required for the trip to go ahead.
